The fish counter in Kvåsfossen

Possible new record

A record number of salmon and sea trout have passed through the salmon ladder in Kvåsfossen since the fish counter was installed in 2014.

A fish counter has been installed in the salmon ladder to record all passes. The first fish passed on June 3, and as of August 23, 2021, almost 1,000 passes have been recorded. The sensor in the counter registers movement, which then triggers a small movie clip. The movie is sent to an email address, and we manually review each movie clip and record fish and approximate size. The counter registers fish from May to mid-September. The Kvåsfossen website shows a nice overview of the fish passes.
