Preservation of the salmon fishing culture along the Tana River

Folkemøtet is a meeting on the preservation of the salmon fishing culture along the Tana watercourse organized by the Sami Parliament, the Sharing our knowledge project (UiT) and Joddu - National Wild Salmon Center. At the meeting, there will be presentations and lectures on the preservation of indigenous culture and salmon fishing in a context characterized by a reduction in salmon stocks worldwide. The target group is the local population and guests from the 2nd International Indigenous Salmon Peoples Gathering, which takes place in Karasjok the days before. There will be interpretation between Sami, Norwegian and English and the event will be available on stream.

Theme: What will it take for the Sami salmon fishing culture to survive? Who is more threatened, the culture or the salmon?
